"At Rockford Rescue Mission, we don’t focus on the 'issue' of homelessness. We hone in on the real people who are affected by homelessness. And, we help them find real change." -Sherry Pitney: Executive Director
For this year’s district service project, the NWD will be teaming up with the Rockford Rescue Mission. We will be collecting items for their 9-month-live-in program. Each council can go about collection differently, but a great way to start is by setting up bins/collection locations throughout the schools and towns. The items we collect will be made into kits for each person at the program. Rockford Rescue Mission serves 400 people a day, so our goal is to create 400 kits! We will be assembling these kits at Spring Convention, and in order to have completed sets, we need equal amounts of every item. While collecting, try to keep each item amount relatively equal. Before coming to Spring Convention, please separate the items by type. This will help packaging run smoothly. Every kit will directly help its recipient!
